Water will follow the path of least resistance and always flow into areas that cannot be seen. Once the water is introduced, if not properly taken care of, it can lead to mold growth, so it is essential to get help with drying out the property as soon as possible.
There are three categories of water damage:
Category 1: Clean Water
This category refers to a source of water that does not pose a threat to humans. Usually, it’s from a water supply line in the home. If flooding from a Category 1 source is taken care of in a timely matter, most of the content, walls, and floors can usually be saved.
Category 2: Gray Water
This category refers to a source of water that has essentially been used and may contain physical, chemical or biological contaminants. This water has been known to cause extensive damage to properties, contents, and can even make people sick. This water usually comes from an overflowing toilet bowl, discharge from a dishwasher, or other water that should have been processed through a sanitation system. Any area that has been affected by the water must be removed. To avoid mold growth, time and speed are key factors when dealing with Category 2 water.
Category 3: Black Water
This category refers to flooding from a extremely unsanitary source which contains harmful bacteria and fungi that will cause severe discomfort or illness. Category 3 flood damage will usually come from sewage backing up into a toilet or sink. Other sources include seawater, rising water from rivers or streams, ground surface water entering your home, or standing Category 2 water that has been left standing for 48-72 hours. To treat this type of water damage requires extremely specialized equipment and training and will often require mold remediation after the dry out is completed.
In any case, where water of any type is concerned, time is the key factor. The sooner you call All Florida Restoration, the sooner we can start mitigating the damage, helping you and saving your property is our number one concern.
